UNITY Plan Press Conference

the latest iteration of The UNITY Plan, a community driven plan for development on the Vanderbilt Yards site, was unveiled at a press conference this morning at The Soapbox Gallery in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.

UNITY Plan designers Professor Marshall Brown, Dr. Tom Agnotti and Professor Ron Shiffman were the presenters.

the press conference kicks off a week of events including a community forum tonight, as well as a walking tour, led by Professor Ron Shiffman (a UNITY Plan designer) and Norman Oder (of Atlantic Yards Report) this coming saturday (9/29) at 2 pm.

The UNITY Plan (UNITY stands for "Understanding, Imagining & Transforming the Yards"), unlike the Atlantic Yards plan, would be completely contained within the MTA's Vanderbilt Yard railyards, would not use eminent domain, would solicit multiple developers and would be planned and implemented "with transparency and accountability."

the community forum will take place tonight at 6 pm, also at The Soapbox Gallery. i hope to attend that as well.
